Ruth has worked in various roles within Oncology Services for over 30 years at Beaumont Health System, Royal Oak. She has served as educator, research coordinator, advisor, volunteer, counselor and advocate to hospital staff, cancer patients and their families.
As a nurse, Ruth proved to be a leader in her field, she was awarded the Outstanding Oncology Nurse of the Year in 2011 by the Metro Detroit Chapter of Oncology Nurses; she was a consultant of an oncology care management program thru University of Michigan and Blue Cross Blue Shield; and she is an active member of the National and Metro Detroit Chapter of Oncology Nurses, The American Psychosocial Oncology Society and the Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association.
As a nurse working with cancer patients and their families, Ruth noted a need to develop her skills as a mental health counselor to help families facing cancer in managing anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, and pain. She earned her masters in counseling and has joined AIM, P.C, to provide comfort and support to our patients as they move towards authentic optimal wellness.
Ruth has been married to Robert since 1973, has 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Outside of her work with our patients, she is committed to philanthropy with Rose Cancer Center, seniors and infants born asleep. It's Ruth's personal and professional philosophy that God calls us to have a servant’s heart, to leave this world a better place. Steven Covey said, Next to physical survival, the greatest need of a human being is psychological survival...to be understood, to be affirmed, to be appreciated. This is the driving principle in her work.
